Immanuel Temple

Seventh-day Adventist Congregation of Durham, NC

Tell the World

Tell the World is a broad vision, a bold challenge undertaken by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It is our mission objective through the year 2010. The ultimate goal of Tell the World is to provide every person on earth with the chance to know Jesus Christ.

More than a program, more than a slogan, Tell the World is our acceptance of Christ’s commission to spread the gospel to every corner of the world, to each living person.

You are needed in this task. Tell the World challenges all Seventh-day Adventists to accept the call to be part of sharing the gospel. To become personally involved in reaching the unreached.

But Tell the World is more than a sweeping vision or grand ideological statement. It is a real, tangible effort which you can be part of. There are seven key components.

Spiritual Growth
Today less than 50 percent of Adventists spend time in daily prayer and Bible study. Daily conversation with Jesus and reading His word are essential to hearing His “still, small voice” (1 Kings 19:12). Tell the World calls for at least 65 percent of Adventists to be involved in daily, personal devotions by 2010. Quality, uninterrupted time with God is the foundation of all outreach.

Community Involvement
Actively seeking and welcoming non-Adventists into our churches is what Tell the World is all about. By demonstrating genuine concern for those around us, we prove to the outside world how valuable they are to Jesus and to us. Fewer than one-third of church members share Jesus with others or are involved in community service. Increasing that number to at least 40 percent by 2010 is a key goal of Tell the World.Click here to read an inspiring story of how one couple is using community involvement to touch lives for Jesus.

Personal Witness
Tell the World aims to accomplish what no other Adventist initiative has ever done; bring five million people to  Jesus in five years. It’s called Win One, challenging church members to reach out to at least one person with the hope of Christ. It can be done.

City Outreach
With their increasingly secular post-modern culture, large cities represent one of the most difficult mission fields in the world today. Soon half the earth’s population will live in cities, 400 worldwide have a population of one million or more. This is a serious challenge. In 2005, the Seventh-day Adventist Church commissioned a world-wide metropolitan outreach initiative called Hope for Big Cities. Carrying on that vision and establishing church plants in 66 of the world's great cities is an integral part of Tell the World.

Church Planting
New churches are full of spiritual life and vigor. The excitement of finding Jesus often seen in a new church has a contagious effect on the local community. Tell the World challenges Adventists to plant and nurture 20,000 new congregations in unreached areas by 2010, as well as provide support for the 17,000 church plants established between 2000 and 2005.

Evangelistic Programming
Imagine what could be accomplished if every church held one evangelistic campaign each year. Tell the World asks all Adventist churches to make annual evangelistic outreach efforts a reality. An additional 100,000 youth evangelism series are also part of Tell the World.

Media Ministry
Today more than ever, media opens doors to outreach. Every day billions of people are watching TV, surfing the Internet, listening to the radio and reading countless published materials. Tell the World emphasizes the embrace of media as a means of sharing Jesus. Relevant and high-quality media are essential to reaching an increasingly media-savvy world.

Tell the World is not just something for pastors and church leaders. All members are called to be witnesses of Jesus Christ. Your help is needed and greatly desired. This challenge can be met. Together, let's Tell the World!

 "Please, tell me!"
